A riding crop in excellent condition for age, pre WW2, the top is clearly and detailed showing the badge for the Duke of  Lancasters Own Yeomanry, stamped into the leather portion is a service number for the Royal Artillery, the Duke of Lancasters where converted to Royal artillery at the beginning of WW2, my research shows that the number stamped 901471 belongs to R J Parr, a Lance Sjt in the 137th Field Artillery regiment. So likely this is the unit he was dispersed to, the research shows he was POW of Japan in the far east, see photos.
