A really nice 6 pounder trench art shell depicting a typical WW1 soldier in full kit with rifle. To the rear several Belgium towns are mentioned and the soldiers name and regiment. Leo Heaton is the soldier named and research Available on line. He served in the Welsh regiment, it appears he was transferred to the London regiment on the date commemorated on the shell. Leo was entitled to the war and victory medals and survived the war. Rare to find such an interesting and personal piece of trench art.
