A nice example of an 1885 patter cavalry trooper sword, marked to the scabbard MG which is the Montgomeryshire Yeomanry, these fought as part the Imperial Yeomanry throughout the Boer war, these swords being amongst the most numerous used. The sword is made by Weysburg Solingen. Various acceptance stamps to ricassos. 
Unusual extra saddle loops added to the lower quarter of the scabbard possibly to add better security to the saddle.
