A typically unrestored example of a Midshipman’s dirk, no scabbard and damage to the guard which is loose, the chain guard is lost to time. This would have been real top of the line example when made, but being very likely over 230 years old this is how this example now is. There is some remaining guilt blue near the guard most visible being a pair of drums, there would also have been crossed lances and a sailing mast on the blade. Lovely Georgian lions head in brass tops of this lovely old dirk.
