An interesting family medal grouping, to father and Son, father Percy Hughes served initially in the South Lancashire regiment before being transferred to the Warwickshire regiment and then the royal defence corps awarded Silver war medal and victory medal. The son Leslie W Hughes is also a South Lancashire soldier 1st battalion and second wave on Sword beach on D-day, at some point wounded but no date recorded but certainly during the early days of D-day, see casualty list attached. He was awarded the France Germany star, 1939-45 star, defence medal and war medal. Also awarded the territorial efficiency medal with the south Lancashire regiment. Also included is a scratch built Landing craft, sweetheart badge, war service badge Leslie’s dog tag, and photos of both father and son.
